About Us

Adam Katz; Founder and President. New York, NY.

My story:

For as long as I can remember, I have gathered and collected rocks in order to immortalize significant moments in my life.  As a child, I started collecting rocks and pebbles as monuments of my early experiences.  At the age of 7, my late grandmother gave me my first real gem mineral which I adored.  In the subsequent years, I continued to gather and collect keepsakes as my experiences dictated.  When I was 18 years-old, a friend of mine introduced me to the brilliance of gemstones.  It was from this moment forward I recognized where my life-long passion would lie.  I began collecting gemstones and minerals at a rabid pace.  My early collection mainly consisted of tourmaline that I purchased at Phish concerts throughout the United States.

As I continued to learn about the world of minerals my interest and passion for these precious stones grew proportionally.  With my collection expanding, I wanted to share such a collection with a community that shares my love of minerals.  Since 2008 in Springfield, Massachusetts, I have been attending trade shows and concerts as a mineral dealer.   I have learned from my experience that, while trade shows present a fantastic opportunity to trade, they are subject to certain geographic limitations that prohibit avid collectors from attending.  Thus, I set out to create an online community for mineral enthusiasts to connect with one another, learn about the market, and trade existing collections.

My passion for minerals and the band Phish is only trumped by my love for my beautiful wife Osher.

Favorite stone: Black Tourmaline.

Most online Mineral dealers offer a somewhat limited retail experience.
The 3 main channels through which minerals are sold and traded online are the following:
1. Mineral sites that offer no e-commerce capabilities. One has to email the dealer for quote or come up with a price offer.  In turn, both sides have to go back and forth till they agree on price. The entire transaction is subject to a great degree of risk, since either side can bail out and walk away at any time.
2. Mineral sites that offer limited and/ or delayed e-commerce capabilities, such as auction sites. One has to place a bid on a rock and cannot simply "add to cart" in real time.  The customer has to wait days & sometimes weeks to hear back, if at all.
3. Retail platforms such as Ebay and Etsy:  Though these sites offer real time capabilities, they are cluttered in both design and content and difficult to navigate all around.

Karma Minerals' Mission is to change that!
Through a clean and simple conceptual design, easy navigation, and dedication to user experience, we strive to make online mineral retailing a safe, simple and an enjoyable experience.

Osher Assouline; Marketing director. New york, NY.

My story:

I was only introduced to Minerals in 2010, when Adam asked my marketing advice choosing a name for his aspired mineral company. The name project was soon followed by conceptual design, promotional materials, website design and the rest is history. In the making.

The world of minerals is a fascinating one, yet its online representation does not always do it justice. I set to create the ultimate online mineral experience. In my efforts to do that, I design all the company marketing & social media efforts to be more welcoming of people from all places, ages and backgrounds, both mineral veterans & new comers.

I adore cut stones and like many girls, my favorite stone is Diamond.

I love everything marketing, travelling, reading non-fiction, my husband & our dog.
